Davangere University is one of the affiliating types of universities in Karnataka. It has Davangere and Chitradurga districts as its jurisdiction and headquartered at Davangere. Davangere became a separate district from 15th August 1997. Davangere University was established on 18th August 2009 as carved out of Kuvempu University with a vision to meet the educational aspirations of the people of this region. The main campus "Shivagangotri" is located at about 12 Kms from Davangere and 60Kms from Chitradurga. Davangere University has revealed a distinctive academic profile, integrating excellence in higher education to full fill the needs of the contemporary modern society and social ethos of the region. The University has 5 faculties namely Arts, Science and Technology, Commerce And Management, Engineering And Education. It has 7 posts Graduate Department of studies & research on the main Campus offering 8 post Graduate & one P.G diploma courses. The Constituent university college of Fine Arts (established in the year 1964) as two Departments and offering Bachelor of Visual Arts & Master of Fine Arts courses. The University intends to have an inclusive approach and enhance quality in higher education.
